Our True Identity

I’ve had my struggles with low self esteem. I went through the typical teenage awkward stage complete with acne, braces and skin as white as Casper the friendly ghost. Maybe you can relate.

A kind minister spoke with me about our identity in Christ. Thankfully, the Lord does not see us as we see ourselves. We’re unbelievably valuable to Him, so much so that He was willing to suffer for our sake.  (See Isaiah 53)

Here’s some of the verses that the pastor gave me and some that I liked as well. I hope they bless you and I would encourage anyone struggling. Words are powerful.

We are God’s Works of Art

“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”
-Psalm 139:14

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
-Ephesians 2:10

We are God’s Friends

“And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.”
– Romans 5:11

“Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.”

We are Chosen & Sealed

“According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:”

We are a New Creation

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

We are Valuable

“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

We are God’s Children

We are Lights in this Dark World

We are Victorious

We are Citizens of Heaven

“For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:”
